List of Best Phones under INR 10000
1. Xiaomi Redmi Note 4
Xiaomi has launched the new Redmi Note 4 comes with a 5.5 inches Full HD screen with good display quality, which is the successor to its massively popular Redmi Note 3 which is the no. 1 best selling online smart phone in India. Starting with the design, it is built on a similar design language like the Redmi Note 3 with few differences like a 2.5D curved glass on front and a better back. The excellent build quality is one of the best is its price. It also feels nice and premium in hands.
It obviously doesn’t deliver performance like the Snapdragon 650 on the Redmi Note 3 but it is still pretty much capable of handling everything smoothly, it also handles games well without much heating. The Redmi Note 4 misses out on Gorilla Glass screen protection.
It runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Xiaomi’s MIUI 8.0 running on top, the company has promised the Nougat update in the coming few weeks. The MIUI 8.0 is a beautiful ROM with lots of customizations. On the camera front, it packs a 13 MP rear camera which is a better shooter than the 16 MP rear camera of the Redmi Note 3; it has good picture quality with good colors and details. The 5 MP front camera is also good, it comes with various beautification modes which enhance the selfies.
It also offers lots of useful features like Dual Apps (two accounts of apps like Whatsapp, Facebook, etc.), Second Space (creates a new partition in the phone which is protected with password/fingerprint and can be used to install completely different sets of apps and also has a separate gallery, basically first space and second space behave like two different phones), although many manufacturers provide features like second space but in Xiaomi’s MIUI it is perfectly executed, it’s fast and easy to access, the MIUI also offers quick ball.
The phone packs a good fingerprint scanner and also includes Infrared Blaster which allows you to control your TV, AC, music system and many other electronic appliances, it is a very good feature and comes handy. In our opinion, among all the ROMs from different Android manufacturers the MIUI is the most feature rich and by far the best ROM out there, it adds a lot of value to the phone.
Coming to another good thing about the phone, it is backed by a 4100 mAh battery which delivers excellent battery backup. Disappointingly, the Redmi Note 4 misses out on fast charging which few other competitors offer at this price, it is not a deal breaker but it would have made things sweeter. It is a dual sim phone with 4G and VoLTE support. It packs 32 GB of internal storage which is expandable upto 128 GB via a hybrid slot.

Redmi Y1 is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 octa-core processor and runs on latest MIUI 9 over the Android 7.1.2(Nougat). Redmi Y1 is the lastest smartphone from Xiaomi launched in November 2017 in India, which is the selfie-centric phone. The phone comes in 2 variants of 3GB RAM with 32 GB internal storage and 4GB of RAM with 64 GB of internal storage.
The Antutu benchmark score of Redmi Y1 is 43500. Redmi Y1 comes with a 5.5-inch screen with 720p resolution, the display is an IPS display protected by 2.5D curved glass and Gorilla glass protection. The camera performance of Redmi Y1 is impressive, it has a rear camera of 13MP with LED flash which is pretty decent in this price range. In our initial impressions, the outdoor shots looked good with plenty of details and sharpness.
The picture quality in low light conditions was average though. The front camera, which is USP of the device, is a 16MP camera with a selfie flash. The front camera on Redmi Y1 is great for taking selfies. The software automatically beautifies your face and because the resolution is high, the pictures are very detailed. There is front flash as well so selfies in low light look good as well. Overall, the camera performance of Redmi Y1 is really good considering the price at which it is launched.
The body, though looks like metallic, is made of plastic and it still looks good. The phone is easy to hold in hand and feels light in weight. As with other Xiaomi phones, Redmi Y1 has an IR blaster at the top and can run dual apps. The fingerprint sensor is on the back and is pretty accurate. Redmi Y1 also worked well in the gaming department with no noticeable lag observed even in the high-end games like Asphalt 8, Modern Combat 5.
The battery for Redmi Y1 is rated at 3080mAH, which is expected to last for a full day with normal usage conditions. The best thing about Redmi Y1 compared to other Xiaomi headsets is that it comes with a dedicated MicroSD card expandable up to 256GB, something not seen in Xiaomi phones for so long.
The price tag of Redmi Y1 looks justified. If you take a lot of selfies then go for Redmi Y1 and if you do not take selfies then Redmi Note 4 is a better device because of Snapdragon 625 chipset. Overall, the phones do well in all areas like performance factor, camera, gaming. Redmi Note 5 is also coming up next month with dual camera setup and bezel-less display so waiting for that is also a good idea.

4. Moto E4 Plus:
Moto E4 Plus is another budget device from Motorola in under Rs. 10000 range. Motorola, has for the first time launched an attractive feature boasting smartphone in its Moto E series lineup – the Moto E4 Plus. The highlight of this device is its massive 5000mAh battery which can provide 2-3 days of backup. It also supports 10W rapid charging.
Coming to its design, the Moto E4 Plus comes with a metallic body with a 2.5D curved Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on top, the back has a typical Motorola circular camera unit. The device looks like Moto G5 Plus but slightly bigger because of the 5.5-inch display. The build quality of the device is decent and the device looks good because of its metallic back. The overall design is very similar to the Moto G5 Plus and the build quality is also good.
The back is removable and you can put 2 sim cards with a micro sd card of up to 128GB but the battery is not user removable. The display on the device is a 5.5 inch 720p HD display. The viewing angles are good and colours are accurate. It is expected to use less power because of its lower resolution.
Inside we have a MediatekMTK6737 chipset with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. The storage and RAM numbers are good but the problem is with the chipset which is not powerful enough to handle heavy apps and games. So if you are a heavy user you should skip this device.
On the back, we have a 13MP primary camera whose performance is decent for a device of this price range. The phone consist a fingerprint sensor and 5MP camera with flash. It is good to see Motorola coming up with front flash in budget devices which will surely attract selfie lovers. We would have loved to see something like Snapdragon 435 which would have made E4 Plus the best device in under Rs. 10000.
Overall, the Moto E4 Plus is good budget smartphone with a great battery backup, excellent pure software, good design and decent cameras. However, it is not a very powerful phone and is not suitable for heavy users. If you can spend Rs.10999 then you should go for Redmi Note 4, which has a better chipset and equally good battery life.
On the lower side, Redmi 4 is another good option which will cost you Rs. 8999. But if you don’t have heavy usage, the Moto E4 Plus offers a very good package with huge battery and its popular stock Android and delivers a pretty good user experience.
